In statements to Inforpress, the group's spokesperson, Arminda Monteiro, pointed out that although women's day is every day, she explained that today is special, and the activity is part of the celebrations for Women's Day International Women's Day, so as not to let the date go unnoticed.
According to the same source, the women all gathered in the center of the town of Nova Sintra for a celebration and to draw society's attention to their importance.
Dai also said that in addition to the outskirts of the city, they also marched towards the town of Furna where they gathered to have a snack and play some games and gymkhanas.
This activity, she pointed out, came about through a group recently created on the island with the aim of energizing and valuing women.
About the problem of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Brava, Arminda Monteiro said that women sometimes suffer in secret and don't share it with others, which is why the group will raise awareness, help and support any woman so that she can feel safe and supported.
"We're going to instruct them with training and talks so that they know how to behave in these types of situations. I want to tell all the women on the island of Brava and in Cape Verde that we are special and that whatever we want, we will certainly get it," she concluded.
